The body of a soldier killed in Afghanistan has been repatriated to the UK. Lance Corporal Jamie Webb of 1st Battalion the Mercian Regiment died after insurgents detonated a car bomb and fired on his base in Nad Ali. The aircraft carrying his body landed at RAF Brize Norton this afternoon. After a private ceremony, the cortege made its way to the John Radcliffe Hospital in Oxford via the Memorial Garden where mourners lined the route to pay their respects. His commanding officer Lieutenant Colonel Phil Kimber MBE described the 24-year-old as 'talented and inspirational' and said he lifted the morale of all around him.
