E94 BH Alabama Georgia SEC Championship game loss 28 to 7 Instant Reaction as Bama loses Georgia blocked a Bama Punt and scored to take a 7-0 lead. And then Ty threw an interception and Georgia capitalized on it to take a 14-0 lead, and cruised to a 28-7 win. Dejected. Unhappy. Tough watch. Tough loss. Georgia dominated Bama. It was ugly as the offense and the special teams were bad. Georgia’s defense was outstanding, and Bama’s offense could not put together scoring drives at all save on drive in the 4th quarter that led to a TD when Bama was down 21-0. Georgia played a clean game, didn’t make mistakes, and was opportunistic and took advantage of Bama’s mistakes. Bama’s spot in the CFP is in doubt because Bama didn’t lost in a blow out as Georgia dominated Bama! Is Bama in or out? And if still in, what seed and who does Bama play? And if out, what bowl game and who will Bama play in a bowl game? Ty Simpson has his worst game of the season. Ty and the Bama offense didn’t have any answers to the Georgia blitzes and the Georgia pressure. The Bama offense has its worst game of the season. Only scored 7 points and only finished one drive with any points at all. Georgia finished 4 drives with TD’s. One Georgia TD drive was for 21 yds after blocking a Bama punt. Special Teams mistake. 2nd TD drive was for 57 yds and a TD after Ty threw an interception. TO by Ty. 3rd TD drive was for 40 yds after Bama punt and 24 yd punt return to put the ball on the Bama 40 yd line to give Georgia a short field. Poor coverage on the punt by Bama. The 4th TD drive was for 12 yds in the 4th quarter after Bama turned the ball over on downs on its own 12 yd line. Desperate attempt on 4th and 2 to try to score points by Bama. Special Teams was bad again as GA blocked a Bama punt that started the Georgia domination of Bama. Special teams has been subpar all year. Time for a change. Need to overhaul special teams. On Bama’s 2nd possession in 1st quarter, Bama lined up to punt and had the punt blocked. Punter took 4 steps with a full-on rush to block the punt and GA blocked the punt and recovered the ball on the Bama 21 yd line and promptly scored to go up 7-0. Next Bama possession, Ty thrown the ball down the field down the middle into traffic and had it intercepted. Georgia took over on its own 43 and drove down the field to score again and go up 14-0 with 9 mins left in 2nd quarter and GA went into halftime up 14-0. At start of 2nd half, Bama goes 3 and out, and GA had a 24 yd punt return to the Bama 40 to start is 1st drive of 2nd half and drives it down the field to score and go up 21-0. 3rd Q ends with GA up 21-0. Bama scores on its first drive of 4th Quarter to make the score 21-7. In a desperate attempt to score again, Bama goes for it on 4&2 on its own 12 yd line and fails to get the TD and turns the ball over on downs. GA promptly scores on the short field to go up 28-7. Game over. On Bama last drive of the game on 4th down, Germie Bernard dropped a ball in the endzone for a TD that could have cut the lead to 28-14 to make the score more respectable. Key Stats Bama was 3-14 on 3rd down and 1-3 on first down Bama has -3 yds rushing vs GA’s 141 yds rushing Bama has 1 turnover, one blocked punt, and one turnover on downs on 4th down on its own 10 yd line while GA had no TO’s I count those as effectively Bama with 3 TO’s to zero for GA. GA won Time of Possession 37 mins to 23 mins for Bama. Ga sacked Ty 3 times, had one Interception, and harassed Ty all-game Bama has 7 punts and one was blocked. Bama turned the ball over on downs twice and once from its own 10 yd line. Ty had -28 yds rushing.
