Honda Pilot timing belt knocking noise

The noise showed up about a week ago and has gradually gotten louder. It only makes the noise when the engine is cold...or sits for the night...I checked the serpentine belt and it is frayed/cut in two spots on the outer edge...(see link below).    • Frayed/cut timing belt   I do not know of this is the cause of the knocking..
