SOUNDBITE (English) Professor Paul Salem, Director of the Carnegie Middle East Centre: "The results of the Israeli elections have dealt a blow to the peace process which was already almost dead, but it had got some momentum with the election of President Obama in the US. But the Israeli elections have shifted more Israeli opinion to the right-wing and the government that will be formed will be a coalition government, which will not be able to take any bold decisions. It is also likely to be a very hard-line, right-wing government. So both on the Israeli-Palestinian track and also on the Israeli-Syrian track, the results of the Israeli elections are a cause for disappointment." Bourj el-Barajneh camp, Lebanon 8. SOUNDBITE: (English) Amr Moussa, Head of the Arab League: "I believe that the Israeli politics and the Israeli internal politics are going into a phase of uncertainty. The important thing that I would call for, if all parties on the right as on the left of centre would reiterate their position vis a vis the peace in the Middle East and their relation with the region and the Arab world. But under the present government, which is a Kadima government, we have seen no progress, we have seen procrastination, we have have seen policies that are unproductive and if not provocative as we have seen in Gaza and in the West Bank by building settlements. So the current government and if it continues we see no progress, if that same policy continues. On the other hand, what Mr Netanyahu and those in his camp have shown no inclination to move to peace, so we are between two wings that are not promising at all in so far as peace and stability in the region are concerned." 17. SOUNDBITE (Arabic) Vox Pop, Resident: "I am not optimistic because the Israeli policy is the same, which is confiscating land and destroying Palestinian citizens, which is not new in Israeli policy."
