Mt 9:27–31 FAITH TRANSFORMS Two blind men followed Him, crying out, “Lord, Son of David, have mercy on us!” When Jesus went into the house, the blind men approached Him, and Jesus said to them, “Do you believe that I am able to do this?” They said to Him, “Yes, Lord, we believe.” (Mt 9:27–28) Meditation: The two blind men believed in Jesus when they followed Him and begged Him to heal them. Even though Jesus seemed not to pay attention to them, they still persevered and followed Him all the way to His house. They showed their faith through both attitude and action. Now, they confirm their unwavering faith through their words. Their confession is brief but firm: “Yes, Lord, we believe.” They believed that Jesus could restore their sight. And He responded to them, “Let it be done for you according to your faith.” Moreover, they received even more than they hoped for: not only were their physical eyes opened, but the eyes of their faith were also enlightened. Invitation for You: Through their firm declaration “Yes, Lord, we believe,” the Lord opened the eyes of the two blind men to see the light and began in them a complete transformation: “If you confess with your lips that Jesus is Lord and believe in your heart that God raised Him from the dead, you will be saved” (Rom 10:9). As for us, many times we are no different from being ‘blind’: difficulties, obstacles, and failures make us lose direction. In those moments, you are invited to pause, look toward the Lord, and say, “Lord, I believe,” so that you may see the light and receive peace. Live the Word of God: In your nightly prayer, recall the times when God granted you grace to overcome hardships, and ask Him to increase your faith. Prayer: Lord, please grant me greater faith in You. Amen.
