Book Review: "Replacing Darwin" by Dr. Nathaniel Jeanson (Part 2)

CORRECTION: During the discussion of the human chromosome 2 fusion, starting around 13:39, I made an error, specifically in the sections starting at about 16:55. The DDX11L2 pseudogene is transcribed across the fusion site due to an alternative transcription START site on the far side of the fusion from the typical start site, NOT because of a leaky termination site on the same side as typical transcription initiation and an alternative termination on the far side. The broader point remains the same: the actual pseudogene is on one side, and the alternative activity that we see is pretty common throughout the genome, but I had the wrong end of the gene. To be clear, there is an alternative transcription INITIATION site, not an alternative TERMINATION site, that permits transcription across the fusion site.
