THE OUTSIDER Season 2 Axed By HBO Despite Great Reviews & Jason Bateman’s Emmy Nomination

Hey, guys! Unfortunately, HBO decided not to proceed with Season 2 of The Outsider. But, immediately after the cancelation announcement, the series production company, MRC revealed that they’re actively shopping The Outsider to other outlets. Netflix, are you watching this?) Based on the eponymous 2018 novel by Stephen King, the first season of The Outsider received great feedback from critics and viewers, who gave it approval scores of 91 and 83, respectively, on Rotten Tomatoes. Bloodline alum Ben Mendelsohn is brilliant as detective Ralph Anderson, but it was Ozark alum Jason Bateman who got glowing reviews for his performance and a 2020 Primetime Emmy nomination. Despite the fact that Season 1 covered all the material from the original book, Stephen King gave his blessing to the show’s writer Richard Price to craft the Season 2 storyline that goes beyond the novel’s scope. We surely hope another network picks up Season 2 of The Outsider. Coincidentally, another series based on Stephen King works was canceled recently: Hulu dropped Season 3 of Castle Rock.
