New spider found in backyard bin

A new species of spider has been discovered in a backyard bin. A Wollongong resident posted an image of the four milimetre long jumping spider on the Australian spider identification Facebook page asking for help. Museums Victoria expert Joseph Schubert said it was a previously unknown species and categorised the creature the Jotus species group. The spider will be officially named after a research paper is published.
