Taking place on August 21st 1997 in Nashville, TN, WCW Clash of the Champions 35 ended a series of cornerstone WCW broadcasts in favour of the upcoming WCW Thunder television show that would air on the superstation. Clash 35 takes place during WCW's peak period in terms of overall popularity. The nWo storyline is still hot, the company is attracting other superstars to make the jump (including ECW's Raven) and the WCW undercard is still putting the WWF to shame in terms of in-ring action. The US, TV and Tag Titles are all defended at this show (the only active title not defended is Hulk Hogan's World Championship) and there's also a couple of title changes that happen at Clash 35. The show is headlined by the nWo's Scott Hall and Randy Savage (defending the tag titles under the Freebird rule) taking on Lex Luger and Diamond Dallas Page.
