Meer dan 215.000 kinderen én volwassenen lieten zich al eens betoveren door de voorstelling Notenkraker & Muizenkoning, waar tegen de achtergrond van een Amsterdams grachtenpand schaatsenrijdertjes over een bevroren gracht zwieren, door de magie van de veelgeprezen decors én door Tsjaikovskis virtuoze sprookjesmuziek. Since 1996, when the Dutch National Ballet mounted Toer van Schayk and Wayne Eaglings enchanting version, the tradition has caught on in Holland too. More than 215,000 children and adults have been swept along by the magic of our Nutcracker and Mouse King, with its dazzling sets and costumes and the unsurpassed beauty of Tchaikovskys fairytale music. Against the backdrop of an Amsterdam canal house we are treated to see skaters gliding across the frozen canals.
