Byrna Basics: Different Projectile Use Breakdown

Let’s start with our chemical projectiles first, Byrna Max and Byrna Pepper. Both of these are frangible rounds, meaning they are designed to explode on impact and are filled with a powderized chemical agent. Byrna Pepper contains blend of OC and PAVA, which are the same ingredients you would find in some of the strongest pepper sprays available, and Byrna Max contains both OC and CS, which is the active ingredient in military grade tear gas making it incredibly powerful. When these chemical rounds hit their target they disperse into a 3 to 5 foot cloud, effectively covering your attacker in those chemical agents. The great part is these rounds can also be used in an indirect manner, shooting the area around the attacker and exposing them to the effects of those chemicals without actually hitting them. What are those effects exactly, we’ll cover that in a future video but lets just say that are incredibly incapacitating, involuntary, and intensely overwhelming! Are next projectiles is the Byrna Kinetic round which actually pulls double duty as both a self-defense AND training round. The byrna kinetic round is a solid polymer round that does not break on contact like its chemical cousins. It relies on pain compliance to stop your assailant… how much pain? Ask these guys… Byrna’s Kinetic rounds are designed to be strand strong enough to break through glass, but also safe enough to not penetrate tissue, even at point blank ranges, assuring that you are still using a less-lethal weapon.
