Carbrain - Always Underwater

Releasing November 13th '3AM...Drinking...Red Horse' is an accumulation of 3 years of music made in Japan, brought together as an album of cherished moments. The heart of the album is memory and the obsessive pursuit to crystallise this. The music was written and produced rapidly, often in under an hour. Then, over the years these pieces were cultivated and finalised into consumable fragments of time. Like the memories they represent, they became more poignant with age, yet, inevitably further from reality. It is through a chopped up, reversed and flawed lens that the music is processed. Very rarely do memories remain pristine, and very rarely are memories simply happy. Coming to terms with the emotions of life, love and loss in young adulthood, I knew one day these moments would be as far from my grasp as my youth spent watching television and playing video games. In order to preserve the innocence I tapped into this theme with fragments of television shows, old VHS recordings and music written in homage to Koji Kondo and UK Garage to name a few inspirations. I hope that the listener may enjoy the album either as a whole experience and journey or as individual bites into memories that they themselves may relate to. Thank you to everyone during this time who inspired me to, for better or worse, go back to my room, open my laptop and try to make some sense of life in music.
