Here's my take on Ray Henderson, Buddy DeSylva, and Lew Brown's 'The Birth of the Blues', recorded live at Mr. Vain / mrvainbrisbane and featuring Mason Harvey on tenor sax / masonhjazz Henderson, DeSylva, and Brown wrote 'The Birth of the Blues' in 1926 for the Broadway revue 'George White's Scandals of 1926'. In its first two years, it was recorded as many as eight times, by Irving Abrams, The Revelers, Willard Robison, Harry Richman, Paul Whiteman, Tom Barratt, Bert Ambrose, and Jack Smith. It has also been sung by Bing Crosby, Pearl Bailey, Frank Sinatra, Dinah Shore, Sammy Davis Jr., Jerry Lewis, Johnny Hartman, Louis Prima, Keely Smith, Della Reese, Perry Como, Shirley Bassey, Cab Calloway, Vera Lynn, Peggy Lee, Deana Martin, and many others. I hope you enjoy it! ---------- Subscribe: / @jordanasmussen Merch: https://jordanasmussen.myspreadshop.c...
