Compared to typical 72-hole tournaments, the event has a different format. 48 players will compete in 12 teams during the regular competition's seven events. Every participant in each event would receive a unique reward, according to the creators. The LIV Golf series debate has gained momentum since the idea was first proposed. Traditionalists who support the PGA Tour criticized the newly announced series, but some criticized LIV for political reasons. Since Saudi Arabia's PIF supports the series, many have openly condemned it. The nation's decision to promote the new golf series worldwide is viewed as a political ploy to improve their reputation abroad.
