Arvind Kejriwal Excise Case: Arvind Kejriwal & Manish Sisodia Cleared of All Charges, Win for AAP
A Delhi trial court has discharged former Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal, former Deputy Chief Minister Manish Sisodia, and other Aam Aadmi Party leaders in the CBI's excise policy case. The court stated that the CBI failed to provide adequate evidence to frame charges, despite making serious allegations. The judge noted that when allegations are made against persons holding public positions, the prosecution bears responsibility to prove them. The court remarked that this was the first time such a charge sheet had been seen with numerous lacunas and missing documents, with allegations unsupported by required witness statements or evidence. The CBI is expected to challenge the discharge order before the Delhi High Court. Arvind Kejriwal reportedly broke down while speaking about receiving a clean chit.
