Imperial Japanese Navy Aircraft Carrier Akagi 赤城 (Red Castle), named after Mount Akagi in Gunma Prefecture. She participated in the attack on Pearl Harbor, December 1941. Eventually, she was sunk during the Battle of Midway, 5 June 1942. However, Akagi was discovered in October 2019 by the late Paul G. Allen's deep sea research vessel RV Petrel.
