Lake Hamilton School District 75th Anniversary (1945 - 2020)

On August 6, 1945, the Garland County School Board met at 11:00 a.m. At this meeting, the directors of nine small public school districts in western Garland County voted to consolidate into one larger school district. The school districts of Center Fork, Evening Star, Greensmith, Hempwallace, Pearcy, Piney, Pleasant Hill, Sunshine, and Valley joined to become, the Lake Hamilton School District. Students attended classes at the consolidated schools until the 1947-48 school year. The consolidated schools were closed and joined one campus at Lake Hamilton in 1947. In 1947, the Lake Hamilton School District consisted of 547 students, 20 teachers, 4 bus drivers, 1 custodian, and 4 cafeteria employees. 75 years later, Lake Hamilton has a current population of more than 4,400 students in six schools with over 500 employees. Throughout the years, Lake Hamilton has received many national and state awards and distinctions in academics, arts, and athletics. As academic scholars, Lake Hamilton students are consistently top-ranked and continue to be provided high levels of learning opportunities by our highly qualified staff. The district has a proven record of successful athletic championships in a variety of men’s and women’s individual and team sports. Since winning the first state championship title for the school during the 1963 basketball season, athletic teams at Lake Hamilton have won 46 additional state titles in various sports and counting. From kindergarten thru high school, Lake Hamilton offers a variety of visual and performing arts opportunities for students. Lake Hamilton is home to award-winning band, vocal music, theater, and visual arts programs. Since the very beginning, Lake Hamilton has been filled with small-town charm and community spirit. The district is proud to offer first-class learning opportunities while keeping its rich traditions and values. We are one pack, with one purpose.
