Anthem Review - An Unfinished Game... That Has Potential

Anthem Review - An Unfinished Game... That Has Potential

Anthem is an unfinished game that interrupts its very fun gameplay loop with abysmal load times, poorly designed UI, average storytelling, and tedious Fort Tarsis segments. This is unfortunate because the time spent in your Javelin is actually quite fun. The focus on ability-based gameplay, combo system, exceptional artwork, and visual FX craft a unique and enjoyable looter shooter experience. This Anthem review will focus on the initial campaign experience and won't dive into endgame criticisms, as I will not put further time into Anthem until further patches address the load time issues, crashes, and bugs that are a regular hindrance to the gameplay experience. The mark of a good looter game in my opinion is how well the developers listen and respond to their community. So far Bioware has communicated well and moved quickly regarding criticisms, so I do believe that there is a strong chance Anthem in a few months will evolve into a much better game. But as it stands right now, the actual player experience is very rough.
