How can we bring sustainable energy to refugee camps? Every year, millions of children and their families become refugees. Forced to flee their homes because of war, conflict or natural disaster. They find safety and shelter in the UN Refugee Agency’s (UNHCR) camps like this one in Azraq refugee camp in Jordan. Access to energy and lighting is a critical issue for refugees living within camps, with a serious impact on their safety, security, health, education and income. The IKEA Foundation is working with UNHCR to improve access to lighting and energy for refugees in these camps.
