The funeral of the revolutionary heroes coincided with the commemoration of the Indonesian Armed Forces Day, or the anniversary of the Indonesian National Armed Forces (TNI), on October 5, 1965. General Abdul Haris Nasution, then Coordinating Minister for Defense and Security/Chief of the Indonesian Armed Forces (KASAB), delivered a heartbreaking speech at the funeral of six fellow generals and an officer who had been his personal aide. They were Lieutenant General Ahmad Yani, Major General Raden Soeprapto, Major General Mas Tirtodarmo Haryono, Major General Siswondo Parman, Brigadier General Donald Isaac Panjaitan, Brigadier General Sutoyo Siswodiharjo, and First Lieutenant Pierre Andreas Tendean. Thousands of people attended the funeral ceremony held at Army Headquarters and the burial at the main Kalibata National Heroes Cemetery (TMPN).
