Katherine Howard - Lonely Play

On this day at 9am 1542, Lady Katherine Howard, 5th Wife of Henry VIII was executed for adultery and not disclosing her sexual history to the king 20 days into their marriage. Katherine I feel was really a victim of men and her downfall was tragic. She was possibly 18 when she was executed which is too young. Her body was buried in an unmarked grave in the nearby chapel of St Peter ad Vincula where her cousins Anne and George Boleyn were buried. Her body was never identified during a restoration of the chapel in reign of Queen Victoria and so Katherine is commemorated on a plaque.
