COLERAIN TOWNSHIP, Ohio (WKRC) - People in many Hamilton County neighborhoods woke up to storm damage Thursday. Wanoka Motz’s yard in Colerain Township took a beating. “We've lived here since '75. We've never had this kind of damage. Never,” said Motz. The strong and gusty winds from Wednesday night’s storm uprooted her apple tree. Another one blocks her from leaving the driveway. “This is the worst. The very worst,” she said. Motz along with others like Krissy Heeg spent the day cleaning up debris. Heeg compared the sound of Wednesday night's storm to a train. "It got to the point where the rain and wind was so bad that you couldn’t see outside of the house. Normally, you can see the neighbor’s house, but you couldn’t see anything. It was basically a wall of gray,” said Heeg. In Mt. Healthy, a power line was leaning over Hamilton Avenue Thursday. Many businesses were closed because there was still no power. Debris covers the streets in town and storefronts have distinct damage. “It destroyed our backyard. It took out like eight trees, but our house wasn't touched,” said Jenifer Cunningham. Cunningham’s house in Springfield Township was spared, but she said her pool was filled with water Wednesday night -- now it's empty with a downed tree inside. “So much devastation for such a short period of time that it lasted. It came on out of nowhere and within 30 minutes, you had all this devastation,” said Cunningham. People said the cleanup process will go day by day.
