Clean-up effort under way after Chile quake

Dog resting on top of debris STORYLINE Residents on Chile's northern coast began clearing up on Friday, two days after an 8.3-magnitude quake killed at least 12 people and caused billions of dollars worth of damage. In Tongoy and Coquimbo, two of the cities most affected by tsunami waves triggered by the quake and some 30 aftershocks, residents were assessing the damage to their properties as soldiers helped clear the debris. Police were also searching for those still missing. Tongoy resident Juan Carlos Carrasco said he'd "lost everything" when powerful waves penetrated 500 metres inland. People in Coquimbo, one of the cities closest to the epicentre, were also clearing debris from the streets, which were littered with cars, and even a boat which had washed inland.
