The Royal Gibraltar Regiment has fired a 21-Gun Royal Salute from Grand Battery to mark the 74th Birthday of King Charles III. The Governor, Sir David Steel watched the salute fired at midday under the watchful eye of Battery Commander, Major Garcia-White. Members of the public, officers and veterans also watched the salute which lasted just over three minutes. The gun crews were then given a short address by the Governor before he was invited to sign the Inspecting Officer's book. A specially inscribed shell case was also presented to the King's representative in Gibraltar. Meanwhile, an official photograph has been released to mark King Charles' birthday - showing him in his new role as ranger of Windsor Great Park. King Charles III is seen leaning on an ancient oak tree in the sunshine, as he takes on a role once held by his father, Prince Philip. After the Gun Salute, there was a presentation of Regimental Silver and two specially commissioned paintings were unveiled.
