A Budget 10/22 Modified

A Budget 10/22 Modified

This rifle was purchased in 2020 for less than $200.00, however with taxes it ended up being a little more. At the time it was the cheapest factory new Ruger 10/22 you could find. What I love about it is that even being cheap in price, it is still a quality made Ruger 10/22. Being on the lower end of the price range you'll find that it isn't a take down model, it didn't have a nice wooden stock or a nice shiny finish on the barrel. What it did have was a durable synthetic stock, a matt finished barrel with no sights and a rail for an optic. To me it was quite sleek looking and had a utilitarian style about it. Personally, I rarely use iron sights anyway on my rifles and normally top them off with some type of optic so this gun not having the sights fit my preference and it looks better that way to me. So what my friend that purchased this rifle did was make some slight improvements that to me doubled the value of this gun. Of course he topped it off with an optic, but the bigger changes included installing a Vorquartsen Target Hammer that immediately dropped the trigger pull down to 2.5 pounds. Then he happened to have an older Ruger 10/22 walnut Sporter stock that had been sitting in a closet for years looking for a home. The walnut stock with swivel sling mounts along checkering on the pistol grip and the forend really make this sleek 10/22 stand out. With these few upgrades this little rifle really shoots well and looks great. In the future we'll put it on paper to see what kind of groups we can get out of it. Right now it is just a really fun gun to shoot and hunt with.
