Each day, a priest exhorts us; today we are with Father Regis-Marie of the parish of Saint Ruf, who helps us meditate on the following Word: Gospel of Jesus Christ according to Saint Luke At that time, Jesus was teaching in a synagogue on the Sabbath. And there was a woman there who had been possessed by a spirit that had infirmed her for eighteen years. She was bent over and completely unable to straighten up. When Jesus saw her, he called to her and said, "Woman, you are freed from your infirmity." And he laid his hands on her. Immediately she became erect and glorified God. Then the ruler of the synagogue, indignant that Jesus was healing on the Sabbath, spoke up and said to the crowd, "There are six days on which work is to be done; come therefore on those days to be healed, and not on the Sabbath." The Lord replied to him, "You hypocrites! Does not each of you on the Sabbath untie his ox or his donkey from the manger and lead it away to watering? Should not this woman, a daughter of Abraham, whom Satan had bound for eighteen years, be loosed from this bond on the Sabbath?" At these words of Jesus, all his adversaries were filled with shame, and the whole crowd rejoiced because of all the glorious deeds he was doing.
