About this Organ: The cathedral’s main organ here was built in 1966 by Fratelli Ruffatti of Padua. Designed as a powerful and versatile instrument for both liturgy and concert use, it features three manuals, pedal, and roughly 50 stops across several divisions positioned in the transepts. A mobile console in the right transept controls the entire instrument, which was later updated and overhauled by Ruffatti to modern standards. The instrument heard here represents the cathedral’s principal symphonic voice, known for its clarity, color, and the dynamic range required for 20th-century and contemporary repertoire.
