24hrs of Appalachia Mothman's Revenge 600 Mile Rally

24hrs of Appalachia is a part of Back Roads of Appalachia. An organization whose goal is to bring people into the Appalachian region for recreational purposes to stimulate the economy. The Mothman's Revenge Rally is a 600 mile loop starting and finishing in Point Pleasant West Virginia. The route follows backroads and trails all over the state through some very tough terrain and highlighting some too the most beautiful spots in WV. Over 50% of the field DNF'd leaving just a select few of us to finish. I left the start at 7:50am and didn't finish till 3:00am the following day with a total time of 19hrs. Along the way I made some new friends and encounter some real challenges. I chose to ride my Tenere 700 for this really leaving the Husky FE501s at home. Not sure it was the right choice but I finished. If you like riding too far, getting muddy and rained on, and also spending time wondering why you do this to yourself, than this is your event!
