Amit Shah-led Ministry of Home Affairs Aprroved Premature Release of Bilkis Bano's Gangrape Convicts

"A petition was filed in the Supreme Court challenging the release of 11 convicted rapists of Bilkis Bano. The petition was filed by Subhashini Ali, a member of the Communist Party of India(Marxist), journalist Revati Laul and Professor Roop Rekha Verma. In reply of this petition the Gujarat govt submitted an affidavit in the Supreme Court enlisting the procedure undertaken for the remission and the reasons for granting remission to convicted rapists. The Gujarat Govt said it decided to release the convicted rapists as they had completed 14 years of imprisonment and that their Behaviour was found to be good.
