(2 Aug 2011) HEADLINE: Dems, GOP still at odds as clock ticks CAPTION: Republican House members came to the Capitol on Saturday to even the score with the Senate, preparing to reject Democratic legislation to avert an unprecedented U.S. financial default. (July 30) House Republicans are giving the Senate a taste of its own medicine. They rejected proposed Democratic legislation aimed at averting an unprecedented U.S. financial default. This comes on the heels of the Senate quickly voting down the so-called Boehner Bill just hours after it passed the House. All of the negativity, though, could pave the way for negotiations on a compromise just ahead of Tuesday''s deadline. Saturday, the president once again called for everyone to work together.
