Music lyric video by Christie Cook. Send Me an Angel (C) 2001 Song - Send Me an Angel Album - Fair Breeze (C) 2001 www.christiecooksongs.com https://bit.ly/358f9Xa A story in song about a promise from God fulfilled almost 2000 years ago on a day where Joy and Sorrow met on a Cross at Calvary. What seemed to be a tragic defeat, 3 days later turned into a glorious victory - the Resurrection of Christ. There are also other songs you might appreciate from my website: http://www.christiecooksongs.com As most songwriters and storytellers, I used my imagination along with artistic liberty to describe the event of the Lord's suffering, death and resurrection. There are over 7000 promises from God in the Bible, many of which have been fulfilled, and many yet to come. This is a song about one of those promises - perhaps the greatest promise of all - Salvation for mankind. This song was written 18 years ago when I had first come to the realization of who Jesus is, was, and will be forevermore. Because angels ministered to Him during His temptation and 40 days of fasting, (Matthew 4:11) I imagined our Lord thinking about being comforted by them again during those agonizing hours facing the cross and His execution. I was also inspired by a few other passages, one being Matthew 28:1- 4 which reads: Now after the Sabbath, as the first day of the week began to dawn, Mary Magdalene and the other Mary came to see the tomb and behold, there was a great earthquake; for an Angel of the Lord descended from heaven, and came and rolled back the stone from the door, and sat on it. His countenance was like lightning and his clothing as white as snow. And the guards shook for fear of him, and became like dead men. But the angel answered and said to the women, "Do not be afraid, for I know that you seek Jesus who was crucified. He is not here; for He is Risen, as He said. Come, see the place where the Lord lay. And go quickly and tell His Disciples, that He is risen from the dead, and indeed He is going before you into Galilee; there you will see Him. Behold, I have told you." Another reading that inspired this song was the events leading up to Christ's arrest in the Garden of Gethsemane when He mentioned Angels: ...Then they came and laid hands on Jesus, and took Him. And suddenly, one of those who were with Jesus stretched out his hand and drew his sword, struck the servant of the High Priest, and cut off his ear. But Jesus said to him, "Put your sword in its place, for all who take the sword will perish by the sword. Or do you think that I cannot now pray to My Father, and He will provide Me with more than 12 legions of angels? How then could the scriptures be fulfilled, that it must happen thus?" Matthew 26:50-54. We believe facts from books - so and so was president, this war happened at this time, etc. etc., yet many discount the Bible, God's Word, the promises, and His truth. Seven hundred years before Christ, God spoke through Isaiah who prophesied of this Savior of the World; seven hundred years later these prophecies became truth. Here are just a few: He would be born of a virgin (Luke 1:26-31), would have a Galilean ministry (Matt. 4:13- 16),would be an an heir to the throne of David (Luke 1:32,33), would have His way prepared, (announced by John the Baptist John 1:19-28), spat on and struck (Matthew 26:27), exalted by God and the people (Phil 2:9,10), disfigured by suffering (scourged by the soldiers, who gave Him a crown of thorns, Mark 15:15-19), would make a blood atonement (shed His blood to atone for the sin of mankind (1 Pet. 1:2), would be rejected (was not accepted by many John 12:37,38), would bear our sin and sorrows (Romans 4:25), would be our substitute (Romans 5:6,8), would voluntarily accept our guilt and punishment (Mark 15:4,5) would be buried in a rich man's tomb (Matthew 27:57-60), would save us who believe in Him (John 3:16), would die with transgressors (Mark 15:27,28), would heal the brokenhearted (Luke 4:18,19). How it brings tears to my eyes and much pain to my heart to think that our Creator and Father in Heaven left His throne to come down and redeem us knowing ahead of time how much He was going to have to suffer at Calvary at the very hands of those He came to save. I don't understand how anyone can reject Him and His everlasting Love. Happy Easter, everyone. He Lives. #ChristieCook #EasterSong #SendMeanAngel #christiecooksongs #Christianmusic #Singersongwriter #Easylistening For more music by Christie Cook visit: www.christiecooksongs.com
