The Worship Project at GKYM16 Conference

STORY + VIDEO - THE WORSHIP PROJECT IN ROCHESTER From Dec 27-30, we travelled down to Rochester, NY for GKYM 2016 Rochester Conference with Darrick Tam and a group of talented worship musicians from different Korean churches across the GTA. Take a read below of their experience at the conference and check out the highlight video! "To be honest, we didn't feel like it started very well. Our first morning session was a little chaotic... the sound mix was off... there was feedback everywhere... our in-ear monitors were off... and worst of all, half our team was getting sick. I remember afterwards, we were sitting at our lunch table and I can recall that all of us were a little quiet. If we said anything, it was likely a complaint about how it didn't sound or go the way we thought it would. I knew something wasn't sitting right with me, but I brushed it off because I had a seminar to rush to. It was at this seminar though that God convicted me... something needed to change. I was teaching on the heart of worship to these young students, yet when I looked at myself and our band, our focus was on everything else but worship. As we gathered for a verbal runthrough in one of our rooms, I knew that in that moment, the Lord wanted to reposition our heart and our minds. Instead of running through our set, we began reminding ourselves of why we were at this conference. It wasn't about being on a big stage, the flashing lights, how the mix sounded, or how tight we needed to play together. As much as we desired excellence, it was our heart of worship that honestly became lost. So instead of complaining... we began praying... praying for the conference.. praying for the sound engineers... the media team... the staff/volunteers... our team... the students... and most importantly for people to truly encounter Jesus through worship. To sum it up, this one night became a night that each of us will remember deeply not because of what we sounded like but because every single one of us on that stage and in that room simply worshipped our amazing God with everything we had in us. It's important to strive for excellence, but without an upright heart of worship - it all means nothing." Darrick Tam Check out the Worship Project on Facebook.
