The environmental footprint of using these products to clean your tiles and grout is MASSIVE! It is NOT eco-friendly NOR cost effective to clean your tiles and grout with baking soda and vinegar or hydrogen peroxide. I thought I was being environmentally conscious and saving money by using baking soda mixed with vinegar or hydrogen peroxide to clean my floors instead of buying a commercially produced product. Then I calculated the true cost and I felt sick! I was prepared to put in the extra physical work, getting down on my hands and knees and scrubbing my floors. I didn't care about the work. I didn't expect that, to clean my whole house, the natural products would cost at least FIVE TIMES the price! ðĨ But mostly, I was completely against accumulating 10-20 plastic packets and at least 20 plastic bottles to clean my floors ONE time! ðĨThe environmental cost and the resources used to recycle all that plastic obliterates any goodness gained by using a natural product. One bottle of a commercially produced product will do the same job three, four, maybe five times! At a fraction of the cost, and using much less water! From the products available in my area, I chose Dunlop Tile and Grout Concentrated Cleaner. It uses 10 ml/1 tblsp of product in 1 litre/4 cups of water and requires a simple mop - one time - with clean water to clean up after. This 1 litre bottle will clean my home three, maybe five times.
