Criminal Defense Attorney Interviewed about Charles Ryan Sentencing

Attorney Russ Richelsoph of Davis Miles, PLLC talks to Fox 10 Phoenix reporter Brian Webb about the sentencing of former Arizona Department of Corrections Director Charles Ryan for a January 6, 2022 armed standoff with the Tempe Police Department. Ryan was sentenced to two years of probation for his actions which some believe was too lenient and there are concerns Mr. Ryan received special treatment because of his former position. Police were called to the scene after reports that Ryan had shot himself in the hand. However, upon arrival, officers discovered that the hand injury was caused by a less-than-lethal projectile fired by police after Ryan pointed a handgun at them. Ryan also suffered a cut to the forehead after a bullet he fired hit a bathroom sink and sent a piece of porcelain flying. According to police reports, Ryan was intoxicated at the time of the incident, having consumed half a bottle of tequila before officers arrived.
