Castlevania SOTN - Richter Speedrun with a Fightstick (14:10)

In exchange for my narrative capacities and the fact that I can type, Galea's letting me post a couple of non-DCUO videos on the channel. This is a Castlevania SOTN speedrun with a bit of a twist: I'm using Richter Belmont instead of Alucard, and I played it using a fightstick. Richter has two distinct advantages and one (MAJOR) drawback when compared to Alucard: Richter's out-of-the-box mobility is insane and Richter's damage output capacity can't be touched by Alucard until after you have the Shield Rod or the Duplicator. The drawback is - Richter also has the exact same level of damage resistance as a ball of cotton candy in a tornado. Playing with a fightstick actually leans into Richter's playstyle: the Dash (⬅️, ⬅️ and ➡️, ➡️ or ➡️, ⬅️ and ⬅️, ➡️), Jump Uppercut (⬇️, ⬆️+✖️), Slide Kick (⬇️+✖️, ✖️), and Spinning Dash (⬆️, ⬇️, ↘️, ➡️+⏹ or ⬆️, ⬇️, ↙️, ⬅️+⏹) are all easy to execute with an arcade-style controller. This version of the speedrun is no frills, no extras: through the Entrance, the Alchemy Laboratory, the Royal Chapel, the Castle Keep, then the Reverse Keep, Reverse Chapel, Reverse Colosseum, Reverse Olrox's Quarters, and Black Marble Gallery, ending with Shaft. This isn't my shortest finish time, but after you practice it a few times? Expect a short trip. Also, expect to die a Lot before you figure out where everything is on that trip. Richter is fragile, folks. As a final note: no lie, this is rapidly turning into my favorite way to speedrun the game. Enjoy. Addendum: After some research, this IS a faster (non glitch) method than any (non-glitch) Alucard method that travels to the second castle, and is also (I assume) faster than any glitch utilization method. I say "I assume" because the fastest glitch utilization Alucard method is still around the short side of sixteen minutes, and this entire video is only 14:27, and it's not my fastest time (I assume someone else could probably beat this current time as well). Maria is a different critter: the current record is like, 8 minutes and change: I'm going to check out that method next because Waaaooow. That's faaaaast. So yeah: Compared to Alucard? Richter's f*ckin' fast folks.
