Anixa Biosciences, in collaboration with Cleveland Clinic, announced that its breast cancer vaccine has shown strong immune responses in over 75% of participants with no serious side effects. This comes as a ray of hope, especially for countries like India, where 1 in 28 women is likely to develop breast cancer in her lifetime. The vaccine, administered in a series of three shots, targets a protein called alpha-lactalbumin. This protein typically appears during breastfeeding but is also found in cases of triple-negative breast cancer—a particularly aggressive form of the disease. The Phase 1 trial involved 35 women, including cancer survivors and those with the BRCA gene mutation.
