As good as King David was, he had some major failures - major sins. In this section of Scripture, he took another man's wife and treated her as his own. Then, to try to cover it up, he had her husband killed! Things went from bad to worse. But the Lord saw. He confronted David about his sin through the prophet Nathan. David didn't try to justify his sin or blame others. Instead, he humbly agreed with God that he was wrong. God forgave David, even though there were consequences that followed. The same goes for us. Sin is deep within us and it comes out a lot. What's worse, we can't change or fix ourselves. But the Bible promises, "If we confess our sins, He is faithful and just to forgive us our sins and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness," (1 John 1:9). Talk together about where sin is in your life and where you need Jesus to clean you up. Encourage each other with the truth that God will forgive and cleanse you through Jesus!
