Report on the 5th VLN race 2015

No one will soon forget the fifth round of the VLN Endurance Championship Nürburgring. Under brilliant sunshine, the drivers delivered top-class motorsport in the "Green Hell": three brands on the podium and cars from four different classes within the top six – a sight that delighted the spectators. Furthermore, round five also produced new winners: Uwe Alzen (Betzdorf) and Dominik Schwager (Munich) won the 47th ADAC Barbarossa Prize in their Ford GT. In its first outing of the season, the black supercar from Jürgen Alzen Motorsport, entered by H&R Special Springs, was the car to beat. The Ford GT had already proven unbeatable in its last Nordschleife appearance, the 2014 finale. At the finish line, the gap to second-placed Dominik (Ansbach) and Mario Farnbacher (Lichtenau) was 14.592 seconds. The brothers secured their first podium finish in only the second outing of their new Lexus RC-F GT3. Michela Cerruti (Italy), Jesse Krohn (Finland), and Felipe Fernández Laser (Leipzig) proved they are no flash in the pan. The trio in the Walkenhorst Motorsport powered by Dunlop BMW Z4 GT3 finished in third place. A 30-minute summary of the race will be broadcast on Sport1 on August 8th at 5:00 PM.
