The Gulf Coast wants passenger rail back

The Southern Rail Commission and Amtrak conducted an inspection ride along the Gulf Coast from New Orleans to Jacksonville on February 18-19, 2016. Thousands of residents came out to show their support for restoring service that was wiped out by Hurricane Katrina. Elected officials from the states, the U.S. Congress and the cities along the route joined the ride and spoke at a handful of whistle stops along the way.
