Its volatile fuels exploded or burned on contact. Out of nearly 400 built, almost half were lost. 2️⃣ F-104 Starfighter A rocket with wings, tiny wings. Designed for high-altitude intercepts but forced into low-level missions. In West Germany, nearly a third crashed. Pilots called it the Widowmaker. 3️⃣ B-58 Hustler The first Mach 2 bomber, fast and lethal even to its crew. One wrong move, and it tore itself apart. Twenty-six were lost in accidents.
