The flame roll-out switch is a safety switch that shuts the furnace off if flames come out the front of the furnace. If flames roll-out the front of the burner, its a strong sign that the heat exchanger is cracked, and could be leaking carbon monoxide. If the flame roll-out switch fails then the furnace might cycle on and off and will not function properly. The flame roll-out switch can be tested before replacing.
