(I've made about a hundred much nicer ones since) I've learned to use the particle and material editors and they're very fun to use. So far I've made a couple of explosions, jetpack effects, fire, water and a jumpgate (inspired by the game Jumpgate Evolution). I've made the particle textures, materials, particle systems and jumpgate used in the video from scratch. Some effects might be used in an RTS game, so obviousely I kept the textures and particle amounts as low as possible. These scenes were running in real-time at 300-500 fps at 1680x1050 but I recorded them with FRAPS at 30fps. The fire part ran badly when recording, unfortunately so it looks like it's missing some particles. I made the Jumpgate in Autodesk's 3DS Max and textured it in Photoshop CS where I also created all particle textures. The rest of the work was done in Unreal Tournament 3's editor. The song is Bellum Infinitus, theme from Supreme Commander. The Unreal Engine 3 is used is many recent and future games such as Unreal Tournament 3 , Gears of War , Gears of war 2 , Stronghold , Bioshock , Mass Effect , Tom Clancy's Rainbow Six: Vegas , Medal of Honor Airborne , Army of Two , Grimm , Warmonger , games by EA , SEGA , etc.
