In this video, you will learn how to download, install, and use Yubico Authenticator app and a YubiKey security key for 2FA as an ultra secure authenticator app for an online account. X, will be the online account secured using the Yubico auth app in this video tutorial. 2-step verification codes will be generated using the Yubico auth app to add a layer of security beyond passwords every time you log in to your online account. Storing credentials on a hardware security key which cannot be extracted is safer than storing them on a mobile phone which could be lost during an upgrade or compromised. Steps To Use Yubico Authenticator & YubiKey 2FA On An Online Account e.g. X 1. Navigate to the YubiKey home page https://www.yubico.com/ 2. Click Support 3. Click Downloads 4. Scroll down to End-user tools and click Downloads under Yubico Authenticator 5. Scroll down to the bottom, select Yubico Authenticator for your desired OS, in this video tutorials case "Download for Windows directly here (64-bit)" was downloaded 6. Choose a desired save location and click Save 7. Open the Yubico Authenticator installer 8. Click Next 9. If you accept the terms of the license agreement, checkmark the box and click Next 10. Choose a destination folder, click Next if your want to run with the default as per this video demo 11. Click Install 12. If you're on Windows OS, you will be greeted with the user account control, click Yes 13. Open the Yubico Auth app 14. Insert your YubiKey into your devices USB port and it will be detected by the Yubico Auth app 15. Click Accounts 16. Click Add Accounts 17. Scan QR code or enter the credential details manually from your online account, X in this videos case. These details include; issuer, account name, and secret key. 18. Choose Authentication function, e.g. Require touch, Time based, SHA-1, 30 sec, and 6 digits. Require touch was selected for this video as this is a physical authentication method required on the security key 19. Click Save 20. Generate a confirmation code in the Yubico auth app for your added account by double clicking on your account name in the app 21. Touch your physical YubiKey 22.
