Orange County Man Charged With Capital Murder in Fatal Stabbing of Ex-Girlfriend
An Orange County man is facing a capital murder charge after deputies say he fatally stabbed his ex-girlfriend outside an RV park in Southeast Texas. Authorities identified the suspect as 45-year-old Jonathan Mathews and the victim as 28-year-old Jacqueline Jeffrey. Investigators say Jeffrey was found with multiple stab wounds outside her recreational vehicle on Mad Davis Road west of Highway 62. She later died at the hospital. Deputies say Mathews was found nearby with injuries to his neck and hand and became a suspect after questioning. According to the RV park landlord and domestic violence advocates, Jeffrey had reportedly moved to Orange County in an effort to escape Mathews and had obtained a protective order.
