To meet that demand, we’re going to have to expand our ability to train the workforce.” To that end, Judy explains that the “Florida Semiconductor Institute signed an MOU [Memorandum of Understanding] with SACA, which is an organization that’s one of the leading in the nation for third-party certification for industry.” SACA will play an important role in establishing a pipeline of highly skilled workers. According to Judy, “if industry wants to hire someone and wants to be assured they have a certain level of training in a particular area, such as manufacturing, then SACA provides a way to evaluate and certify that these individuals have that level of training.” In addition to working with SACA, Judy says that FSI is “going to partner with AmSkills to be able to disseminate opportunities and experiences to broaden awareness and to be able to expand the pipeline of communities that are feeding into our industry.” Tom Mudano, President/CEO of AmSkills, notes that AmSkills is “very excited about a partnership we’re going to be having with the University of Florida’s Florida Semiconductor Institute to help expand and recruit people into this industry and get them trained so they can launch careers in that area.” Be sure to check out the links above to learn more about the Florida Semiconductor Institute at the University of Florida is aligning with SACA’s Industry 4.0 certifications to ensure students have the hands-on, transferable skills the growing semiconductor industry needs.
