COVID-19 update, July 3: India reports highest daily spike of over 20,000 new cases

On July 3, India reported more than 20,000 new COVID-19 cases for the first time, taking the country's total to over 625,000. Almost 380 new deaths were recorded. India has opened one of the world's largest hospitals -- the size of 22 football fields -- to combat the coronavirus. The 10,000-bed facility in New Delhi will be fully operational by July 5.
