The Road to the Cabin | Building Access & Raising an Off-Grid Cabin

After a winter pause, the cabin project continues. In this second part of the series, I share the journey from raw woodland to a finished cabin site — battling mud, water, fallen trees, and time itself. What began as a rough path through the woods slowly became a road, a clearing, and finally the place where the cabin now stands. This video follows the seasons as the land changes: • Winter solitude in the snow • Spring rains and washed-out culverts • Summer road building and clearing trees • Fall preparations and materials delivery • The cabin raising in early winter • Returning to install the wood stove Out of respect for the Amish builders who helped make this possible, I chose not to film them at work. This cabin is still a work in progress, but seeing it stand for the first time made every muddy setback worth it.
