'Stop the Shame' - Ciara Kelly delivers thousands of tampons to ASAI

Newstalk presenter Ciara Kelly has delivered thousands of tampons to the Advertising Standards Authority for Ireland for her 'Stop the Shame' campaign. It comes after the Lunchtime Live presenter urged listeners to send in new and unopened sanitary products, tampons or pads to protest the removal of a Tampax ad from the television. The ASAI banned the ad, which features two women discussing the correct use of tampons, after receiving complaints from viewers. The decision caused widespread anger and last Friday, Ciara called on her listeners to send her tampons and promised to deliver them to ASAI offices in protest. The tampons have now all be donated to the period poverty charity, Homeless Period Ireland. Ciara said the ASAI was invited on the show; however, the agency said it has no further statement to make on the matter. The agency has previously said the issue with the advertisement was not its message but the way it was delivered.
