Time of recording of video: 23rd of June 2023 Emulator used: Nestopia UE 1.51.1 During the video the game froze for on great tigers refight. This is because Nestopia automatically freezes the application when something opens in the background, which was probably just my computer running security checks in the background or something. If I'm being honest I'm not even sure why it does that but I can say for certain that it had nothing to do with the run. For anyone thinking that I don't have the skills to beat this, this isn't the only NES game that I've beaten. I've also finished the ninja gaiden trilogy on the NES, the mega man games from 1 to 6, the Castlevania trilogy, and the Contra series on the NES. https://www.speedrun.com/user/bruda0s... Thought I'd say some stuff about how I accomplished this, so here ya go. I started playing Punch out for the NES at around early 2020 when lockdown was in full effect. I've been practicing the game on and off throughout the years and eventually at around early 2022 I finally beat the game during my English class at school. After that I took a little break from the game until coming back to it a few months later to practice it blindfolded. The main reason for that was because a youtuber I watch, SummoningSalt, had a video uploaded on his channel about it a few years ago and I thought it'd be cool if I could try doing that myself. • The History of Blindfolded Punch-Out I've watched it a couple of times during my practice runs for any extra help on certain fights which I had trouble with and because it's honestly a pretty good video in general lol. There was a few fights that I had a bit of trouble with, but luckily a few videos were able to help, such as Sinister1s blindfolded tutorial videos and watching a few other people beat it blindfolded. • Blindfolded Punch-Out in 18:03.54 (Former ... (summoning Salts blindfolded speedrun) I looked over Salts speedrun for some help on Sodas fight as he was a pretty random fighter. Luckily he had a nice approach which was lowering his health so he could get intentionally knocked down for a free star and some extra punches on Soda. I didn't really do that though because I was pretty caught up in the moment, but you could kind of see me pull it off for his third knockout. • MTPO Blindfolded Tutorial (part 3 of 3) (MTPO Blindfolded tutorial part 3 by Sinister1) This was another run that I looked at when needing help on beating Mike Tyson. My strat was to do it the Dtysonator way which was pretty risky and involved some pretty quick reflexes, so I'm pretty happy that I accidentally stumbled upon Sinister1's blindfolded tutorial for some help against Iron Mike. The biggest advice from him was definitely the buffer strategy on round 1 on him and the star punches you can get from countering him at the start of round 2. I probably should've watched his whole tutorial on how to beat the game blindfolded instead of trying to figure it out myself from Salts video. • Mike Tyson's Punch-out!! Game WON blindfolded (The first ever video of someone beating punch out blindfolded) I watched over this video to just to see someone else beat the game blindfolded lol. I also randomly forgot the buffer strat for Tyson so I skipped over to that part to see what it was again. Since the start of 2023 I've been practicing in my free time on beating punch out blindfolded. I started recording me running the game blindfolded at around early March. I thought I'd finish this challenge first attempt, but that wasn't the case lol. over the course of three months I've been recording my attempts of beating the game blindfolded until I eventually beat the entire thing without getting a game over. I wasn't able to record a lot of attempts due to how long it took to beat the game (around 30 or 40 minutes), and also because the set up I've got to do to showcase me beating the game was also pretty annoying to do. I'm also still a kid that goes to school so I've been pretty busy with school work and assignments and stuff. It took about 13 attempts of me getting through the game blindfolded until I got the run that made it to the end without fail (kinda). Most of those runs were lost due to either Macho Man, Soda Popinski, Don Flamenco, and Bald Bull for some reason. This run was also my first time getting to Mike Tyson, and beating him too, which was pretty hype for me. Hopefully I've told enough information to tell you guys that this is a legit run. This took way too long to do and I'm honestly just happy that I've finally done it. I may try again in the future for a clean run, and I'll release another video later that showcases how I did this run and the strats I used to accomplish this. That's it, bye.
