"Opening Voluntary" in C, by Caleb Simper (1856-1942), from "Seventeen Voluntaries for the Organ, American Organ or Harmonium" (book 3, no. 9), played by Peter Tylor on the pipe organ at St John's Methodist Church, St Austell, Cornwall (NPOR N02219), 29/08/2017 - the last of their open days (held weekly each August) for this year. This is the first of two short Simper pieces that I recorded during this visit, in order to demonstrate some of the softer stops of this fine instrument.
